Aman Hotel Project

       At the beginning of the project, the Dushang team did not rush to start construction. Instead, we set up an exclusive project team to go deep into Aman Hotel's design site, communicate repeatedly with Aman's design team, and conduct on-site surveys. We found that Aman's space design is very distinctive, based on natural materials, with restrained and introverted colors and simple and smooth shapes. The core is to make guests feel "tranquility and relaxation" in the space. Therefore, furniture must not only meet functional needs, but also become an extension of space aesthetics without the slightest sense of abruptness.

      Based on this, we established the customization direction of "taking nature as the background, craftsmanship as the support, and details as the highlight". Every link from material selection, design, production to installation was done "with excellence and evidence-based", fully following Aman's design standards, and integrating Dushang's years of experience in hotel furniture production to solve one practical problem after another.

Material Selection: Respecting Nature, Restoring True Texture

       Aman's understated luxury aesthetics starts with respect for natural materials. In the material selection link, we strictly followed Aman's requirements, abandoned all cheap man-made synthetic materials, and selected FSC-certified natural solid wood, linen, natural stone and other environmentally friendly materials to ensure the texture and environmental protection of furniture from the source — this is not only consistent with Aman's brand philosophy, but also Dushang's commitment to "green production".

      Taking guest room furniture as an example, we selected African black walnut as the core material. This kind of wood has natural and smooth texture and inherent warm luster. After manual polishing, the surface gloss can reach 90%. Without too much decoration, it can present an understated sense of luxury. To ensure the quality of each piece of wood, we arranged special personnel to screen the wood, remove boards with texture defects and excessive moisture content, and strictly control the wood moisture content between 8% and 12% to avoid deformation, cracking and other problems in the later stage. It should be noted that hotel furniture is used frequently every day, and the precise control of moisture content directly determines the service life of the furniture.

      In addition to solid wood, the upholstered furniture in the guest rooms uses high-density linen fabric, which is breathable, skin-friendly, wear-resistant and stain-resistant, and presents a natural texture, which perfectly fits Aman's quiet atmosphere; the coffee tables and side tables in the public areas are made of natural frozen stone, which is warm in texture and unique in grain. Each piece of stone is unique, which not only echoes Aman's natural philosophy, but also enhances the texture of the space. It is worth mentioning that all selected materials have passed strict environmental testing, and the formaldehyde emission is controlled below 0.05mg/m³, which is far lower than the national standard, ensuring that guests can feel a natural and healthy living environment when staying.

Design: Integrating into Space, Rejecting Deliberate Carving

       Aman's design emphasizes "de-stylization" and pursues "design without a sense of design", that is, furniture integrates with space and nature, does not deliberately highlight itself, but can show taste in details. This requires our design team to abandon the previous inertial thinking and focus on "space adaptation" rather than simply pursuing the beauty of furniture.

In the design of guest room furniture, we abandoned complex carvings and decorations, adopted simple and smooth lines. The curvature of the bed frame was repeatedly adjusted to fit ergonomics, which not only ensures the sleeping comfort of guests, but also forms a harmonious visual matching with the walls and floor; the size of the bedside table fits the guest room space accurately, reserving enough charging ports and storage space, and adopting hidden damping drawers, which are silent when opened and closed to avoid disturbing guests' rest — these details, although simple, require us to polish repeatedly, not only to meet the functionality, but also to take into account aesthetics and tranquility.

        The design of sofas and chairs in the public areas also follows the principle of "simplicity, comfort and introversion". Referring to Aman's pursuit of "sense of relaxation", we designed the sofa into a low and wide shape, matched with high-resilience sponge filling, which is soft but not sagging, allowing guests to relax quickly when tired; the backrest curvature of the chair is adjusted to 18° to increase lumbar support, solving the discomfort of sitting for a long time. At the same time, neutral colors are selected to echo the natural materials and light and shadow effects in the public areas, creating a lazy and quiet oriental artistic conception.

During the entire design process, we maintained more than 3 communications with Aman's design team every week. Every detail from the curvature of lines, the matching of materials to the adjustment of colors was repeatedly deliberated and revised. We even made 1:1 samples many times and sent them to the site for trial installation to ensure that the adaptability of furniture and space reached 100%. Once, in order to adjust the softness and hardness of the sofa, we repeatedly replaced the sponge material, and after 5 sitting tests, we finally met Aman's requirements — this "refusal to make do" is not only Aman's attitude, but also Dushang's commitment.

Production: Artisanal Polishing, Strictly Controlling Every Process

       The production of hotel furniture is never "mass replication", but "artisanal polishing". Especially Aman's customization requirements have almost harsh requirements on craftsmanship, and every process cannot be sloppy. As a factory with a modern production base and an old craftsman team with more than ten years of experience, Dushang has always adhered to "industrial precision to make customized products", perfectly combining the warmth of handcraft with industrial precision.

       In the production link, we implemented the "three-level control method", with strict standards and inspections for every process from cutting, assembly to polishing and painting. In the cutting link, we used electronic cutting saws to control the error within 0.5mm, and arranged special personnel to check the cuts to avoid edge chipping, cracking and other problems; in the assembly link, we adopted the combination of traditional mortise and tenon craftsmanship and modern hardware fixing, which not only ensures the structural stability of the furniture, but also retains the natural texture of solid wood furniture. The connection between the sofa armrest and the seat bag is fixed with L-shaped hardware and woodworking glue, which can bear more than 300kg of load, meeting the needs of high-frequency use in hotels; in the polishing link, we arranged old craftsmen with more than ten years of experience to manually polish every corner and detail of the furniture by adopting the "three polishing and three buffing" process to ensure that the surface is smooth and delicate without any burrs.

In the painting link, we selected low-VOC clear paint and adopted the "three primers and two topcoats" process. After each coat of paint, we carried out fine polishing to ensure that the paint surface is full and transparent, which can clearly show the natural texture of the wood, and has the characteristics of wear resistance, stain resistance and moisture resistance. To ensure the uniformity of the paint surface, we used a dust-free spraying workshop to avoid dust adhering to the paint surface and affecting the appearance — these seemingly cumbersome processes are the core reasons why Dushang adheres to quality and wins Aman's recognition.

        During the production process, we also established a full-process supervision mechanism. Aman's representatives can visit the factory at any time to check the production progress, and we will timely feedback every key link to ensure that the production process is transparent and controllable. Once, the cutting error of the side panels of a batch of bedside tables exceeded 0.3mm, and we resolutely re-cut all of them. Although it delayed the construction period by 3 days and increased the production cost, we always believed that quality is more important than speed, and only products that meet the standards can be delivered to customers.

Installation: Seamless Connection, Guarding Detailed Aesthetics

       Furniture installation is the last step of project landing and the step that best reflects the details. Aman's space design focuses on "integrity", so the installation of furniture must not only be firm and accurate, but also seamlessly connect with the hard decoration without any gaps or deviations.

       Dushang set up an exclusive installation team, all of whom have more than five years of experience in hotel furniture installation and are familiar with the installation standards and detailed requirements of high-end hotels. Before installation, we surveyed the site again, checked the size and position of each piece of furniture, and formulated a detailed installation plan; during installation, we wore gloves throughout to avoid scratching the furniture surface, and paid attention to detail processing — the joints of the wardrobe are seamless, the slide rails of the drawers are adjusted to a silent state, and the corners are wrapped with anti-collision materials to ensure the safety and comfort of guests.

        After the installation was completed, we conducted a comprehensive acceptance together with Aman's design team and operation team, checking every link from the size and installation accuracy of the furniture to the surface texture and detail processing to ensure that there were no problems. When we saw each carefully polished piece of furniture perfectly integrated into Aman's space, echoing with nature and light and shadow, presenting the expected understated luxury aesthetics, we knew that all the efforts were worthwhile.
